b-parasite (Soil Moisture Sensor)

I wanted a wireless soil moisture sensor for my home, but a lot of the ones on the market were either not accurate, relied on the cloud, or didn't support Zigbee and BLE. So I turned to open source...

The b-parasite is an open-source design by rbaron. I've modified it to use the same wireless module as the Lemon Wireless and added a USB-C socket so you can easily change the firmware on it, if you want to switch between BLE and Zigbee or change how often it sends data. It was cheap to order these in bulk, and I had a lot of extra wireless modules on hand, so I figured I'd make a bunch then sell the rest.

Features
- Works with Home Assistant over Zigbee or BLE. Home Assistant is a requirement, unless you'd like to run Zigbee2MQTT to bridge it to an MQTT platform. This is not a cloud/app-controlled device.
- Long battery life. I've yet to profile it, but it's already lasted a month with very little decrease in battery.
- Integrated light sensor, temperature sensor, and battery sensor.
- Works with the various 3D-printable enclosures designed for the original b-parasite. The mushroom in the product image is one such enclosure.
